Huazhong University of Science and Technology started its rapid prototyping technology research in 1991, is one of the earliest units to start rapid prototyping research. It has been supported by Ministry ofScience and Technology, Ministry of Education, National Natural Science Foundation of China, experts on National 863 High Technology Research and Development Program, Innovation Fund for Technology Based Firms, Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province, Wuhan Science and Technology Commission.
In 1995, the HRP-I model machine took part in Beijing International Machine & Tool Exhibition .It was the first RP facility in our country that has ever taken part in this kind of exhibition and was one of 18 high pointed exhibits.
In 1996, for accelerating the transformation of high-tech achievements, Huazhong University of Science and Technology established a special test platform in the school .
In 2000, rapid prototyping system was identified by Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province as"Laminated Object Manufacturing rapid prototyping technologies and systems". The committee was made up of academicians of Chinese academy of engineering, 863 expert group, well-known experts, senior engineers and technicians, and it considered main technical performance indicators of HRP-IIIA rapid prototyping system have reached the international advanced level in the late 1990s.
On April 2001, powder sintering rapid prototyping system was identified by Science and Technology Department of Hubei Province as "selective laser sintering rapid prototyping technologies and systems". The committee considered the precision of powder sintering rapid prototyping system parts reached the international level, and the comprehensive performance indicators reached the international advanced level.
On December 2008, supported by "high-end CNC machine tools and basic manufacturing equipment" national major projects, carried out research for a large table equipment, successfully developed the world's largest laser powder sintering equipment, which represented our rapid prototyping technology was in the leading position in the world.
In 2010, cooperated with European Union for large aircraft project, and the main mission was to develop super rapid prototyping machines, was ranked as the world's leading supplier of rapid prototyping technology by authoritative publication "Wohlers Report" in 3D printing industry.
In 2011, since 1400×700×500mm largest rapid prototyping equipment came out, got National Award for Technological Invention 2nd Prize, and "2011 China's top ten scientific and technological progress" appraised by academicians of Chinese Academy at same time.
In 2013, developed the first international 1400×1400×500mm powder sintering rapid prototyping equipment with "four lasers, four galvanometers, the largest table in the world ".
In 2014, with the guidance of Hubei Province and Wuhan City, technology achievements and research team join, and Wuhan Huake 3D Technology Co., Ltd. set up for accelerating industrialization and development o of 3D printing technology.
